Alexi is a Toronto based, VC funded ($15M Series A) AI LegalTech platform for litigators. We are on a mission to transform the legal services industry by building cutting edge AI-powered solutions. We are a team of software engineers, lawyers and designers working hard to achieve our long-term mission.

As of today, we are hiring a Director of Engineering (Platform/ AWS) to lead our platform and backend engineering teams. This role requires deep expertise in cloud-native technologies, particularly AWS, to design, build, and maintain scalable, robust, and cost-efficient backend systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud architecture, systems thinking, and building foundational systems that support AI and customer-facing applications.

The Director of Engineering role will be responsible for the following on a day to day basis:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, robust, and cost-efficient backend systems
  • Create and guide the overall design and architecture of our cloud-first systems, ensuring they communicate effectively and scale efficiently
  • build and manage cloud infrastructure, including serverless architectures and servers with replication capabilities
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of APIs and integrations
  • Integrating ML models into AWS stack
  • Developing micro services
  • Designing backend chat systems
  • Redesigning/ evaluate/ integrate all the services that plug into the backend chat system

The successful candidate will have strong skills in the following areas:

  • AWS
  • Designing and building backend systems
