We’re currently looking for a Risk Analyst that will take a key role on our location-neutral team. This position will report to our Director of Risk and be part of our Risk team, which is responsible for the underwriting and risk management functions of our SwipeSimple Connect offering. This individual will review merchant applications, assist in underwriting decision-making, and perform transactional-level monitoring for risk management purposes. In this role, we also value a keen attention to detail, process-orientation and an ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment.

What You’ll Do

Underwriting

  • Review incoming merchant applications
  • Identify fraudulent merchant application submissions through thorough examination and use of internal and external underwriting tools
  • Analyze results of underwriting checks
  • Utilize credit/risk scales and other components of internal policies and procedures to make merchant application decisions
  • Manage follow up communication with applicants
  • Review, analyze and verify supporting documentation from merchants (e.g. bank statements, credit reports, and financial statements)
  • Assist in evaluating and continuously improving underwriting strategies

Risk Management

  • Perform daily transaction monitoring using risk management tools
  • Go over results of transaction monitoring
  • Perform risk investigations to verify transactions
  • Perform financial risk analysis and possible exposure calculations to evaluate business financial positions for prospective and existing merchant accounts
  • Utilize research and analytical tools to make sound funding decisions within a required timeframe as determined by management
  • Assist in evaluating and continuously improving risk management strategies

Compliance

  • Assist in management of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) program
  • Support annual audit activities
  • Assist in management of relationships with key external stakeholders (e.g., sponsor bank, vendors, etc.)

Chargeback Processing

  • Review processing system chargeback and retrieval reports
  • Research and respond to chargeback disputes and retrieval requests within the expected time frame
  • Perform investigations and analysis of cardholder disputed transactions as per card brand regulations
  • Maintain and provide data reports resulting from chargeback cases
  • Respond to telephone inquiries from merchants regarding disputes

What You’ll Bring To The Table

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Minimum two (2) years of compliance, merchant and/or payment experience in the acquiring, payment facilitation, ISO / agent environment or equivalent
  • Knowledge of card brand, governmental, banking and other relevant payments industry regulations rules and regulations
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with a wide range of stakeholders across the company
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain high-quality work product
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High-level organizational and time management skills as well as a strong attention to detail
  • Sound judgment, strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Resourcefulness as well as a process- and results-orientation
  • Ability to learn quickly and to work both independently and as part of a team toward the achievement of company goals

SwipeSimple is a software solution that enables small businesses to accept payments seamlessly via phone, tablet or computer. SwipeSimple is sold through a partner network comprising financial institutions, merchant service providers, and independent sales organizations. The solution is also sold directly by CardFlight through SwipeSimple Connect.

The standard annual base pay range for this role is $55,000-$75,000. In addition to a competitive base salary, this position is also eligible for cash bonus and equity awards based on factors such as experience and performance.
